The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Paid Referendum 71 Signature Gatherer is Baldfaced Liar

by: Lurleen

Fri Jul 24, 2009 at 22:40:32 PM EDT

UPDATE: Check out the lies being spewed by signature gatherers in Seattle today, after the jump.
UPDATE 2: Chris Mason has posted the entire 9 minute video (thx Chris!).  I've updated the post below.  It is clear that the referendum mercenary was telling people that this is a yes/no vote on legalizing gay marriage.  That is a baldfaced lie.  R-71 is only about repealing an incremental domestic partnership law.
H/T Joshalot

Wow.  Just wow.  This is what false Christianity looks like.  Gary Randall and Larry Stickney, sponsors of the anti-domestic partnership Referendum 71, have a lot to answer for.  This video was recorded by Chris Mason from Driving Equality a few days ago at the Port Angeles, WA Wal-Mart.  While watching, keep in mind that Referendum 71 has NOTHING to do with marriage licenses.

[The paid signature gatherer] approached a woman and asked her if she supports same-sex marriage. When she said yes, he handed her the clipboard to sign the referendum. She though she was signing in favor of equal marriage. He tricked her, right in front of me, on camera. I called him out on it.

He said to her:

Did you have a chance to sign our petition yet?  We're giving you an opportunity to decide whether or not you're in favor of giving homosexual couples legal marriage licenses.  Not just the same rights as married people, but a marriage license too.  Do you have an opinion on that, yes no or don't care?
The woman said yes, that she will sign, and he handed her the clipboard. It was obvious to me that she was signing what she thought was a petition in favor or giving same-sex couples marriage licenses. So I asked her if she supports same-sex marriage. She said that she did.

Referendum 71 has nothing to do with granting marriage licenses.  Referendum 71 would repeal an incremental domestic partnership law.  It isn't a fluke that this mercenary lied.  Randall and Stickney have lied from day one that the referendum was about marriage.  In fact, their petition sheets have the lie "Protect Marriage, Protect Children" emblazoned across the top with the following lies printed directly beneath
• The legislature just passed a law that effectively makes same sex marriages legal. By signing R-71 we can reverse that decision and protect marriage as between one man and one woman."

• If same-sex marriage becomes law, public schools K-12 will be forced to teach that same-sex marriage and homosexuality are normal... even over the objections of parents. Sign R-71 to protect children.

Larry Stickney falls for Tony Perkins

by: Lurleen

Thu Jul 16, 2009 at 14:30:00 PM EDT

Of the 31,103 verses in the Bible, what are the odds that Larry Stickney would happen to employ in his political campaign the very one that Tony Perkins (Family Research Council) is using to browbeat Christians into doing his own political bidding?  Larry Stickney is the campaign manager of the misnamed Protect Marriage Washington, an organization promoting the anti-domestic partnership Referendum 71.  Here's Larry in a July 14, 2009 "press release"
My friends, we are in a grave moral crises as a state and nation. A return to the faith and integrity of our forefathers is the only hope we have. We must recover our vision and put 2 Chronicles 7:14 into practice: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."

R-71 provides us with an opportunity to draw a line in the sand with those who mock our values and institutions and seek to tear them down. We have the chance to "just say no" to our societal descent into depravity.

Here's Tony Perkins describing the scriptural inspiration for his latest political ploy to manipulate Christians for his political ends
The Call 2 Fall Declaration comes straight from the pages of Scripture:
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  (2 Chronicles 7:14).
The journey back to God, to His forgiveness and favor, begins on our knees in humility and repentant prayer.
Stickney is clearly letting Tony Perkins do the thinking for him.  And perhaps his own pastor too.  It can't be coincidence that Larry invoked this Bible verse shortly after his Referendum 71 comrade (and personal pastor?) Pastor Rick Long of Atonement Free Lutheran Church in Arlington, WA built his July 5th sermon around an extensive list of FRC's talking points and linked them to Referendum 71.  The sermon transcript is below the fold.  Recitation of FRC talking points begins at about minute 12.

It is clear that Pastor Long and Larry Stickney are using Perkins's model of submission to spark and channel political activism.  Look how Perkins doesn't stop after merely catalyzing submission, but makes sure that the newly submissive are readied for active duty:

Consequently, we are sensing the need to return to simple but powerful truths like:

   * God is sovereign.  He is holy and He is love.
   * We are sinners.  We are saved from His severity of His wrath toward sin only by the fierceness of His love in Christ.
   * When we drift away in disobedience, we experience His discipline.  His judgments are just.
   * The pathway back must begin with:

o A humility and brokenness before the Lord.
o A desperation to find the face of God.
o A heart cry for the mercy of God.
o A desire to turn from our sinful ways.
o A resolve to return to the ways of God.

This is what the ancient words of Scripture are calling us to do when we speak of a "Call 2 Fall."

I emphasized the blue text, because Perkins provides explicit guidance on how to "return to the ways of God" through directives mailed to churches and posted on the internet.  The directives fan moral outrage against President Obama, people with "various forms of sexual perversion: homosexuality, cross-dressing, and gender manipulation/mutilation" and pro-choice advocates.  And they call for support or opposition to specific pieces of legislation, like the federal hate crimes bill. Likewise, Larry Stickney immediately followed his invocation of 2 Chronicles 7:14 in his press release with an exhortation to act on Referendum 71.

The connection between Larry Stickney and Tony Perkins is clear.  The only thing I can't figure out is whether Larry is consciously using Perkins's model, or has simply become another Perkins zombie.

Breaking: Larry Stickney Paid Himself $6,500 for One Month's Work

by: Lurleen

Mon Jul 06, 2009 at 21:40:27 PM EDT

Please continue to support the R-71 effort if at all possible. Our expenses are significant...PLEASE contribute to this effort with a donation as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Larry Stickney, Manager
Protect Marriage Washington
[6/13/9009]

ka-CHING!!!  According to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission, Larry Stickney's misnamed Protect Marriage Washington, the organization behind Washington's anti-family Referendum 71, has a $206 deficit.  But no worries, because Larry made sure to pay himself $6,500 in June salaries.  Larry Stickney's grossly opulent salary accounts for almost 36% of the donations received by Protect Marriage Washington.  I thought he and Gary Randall were on the outs, but it looks like Larry is Gary's protege after all.  Milk 'em for all they're worth, Larry!

To see what Larry did to earn all that loot (missing deadlines, insulting the press, wasting time filing legal challenges only to withdraw them prematurely, etc.), click here or here.  No wonder few referendum endorses contributed scarce cash to PMW - perhaps they knew it'd end up in the greedy pockets of the inept Larry Stickney.

Referendum 71 Authors NOT Hiding Expenditures

by: Lurleen

Thu Jul 02, 2009 at 16:41:00 PM EDT

CORRECTION:  An astute Blend reader has notified me that the reporting deadline for expenses incurred in June by referendum PACs is July 10th.  I've re-read the PDC documents, and he is correct.  I have, therefore, made a regrettable error in calling out Stickney and Randall for not yet reporting their printing and related expenses.  They have not earned the accusation of hiding their campaign expenditures.  I am sorry for this error and I do apologize.

Now the question is, do I yank the diary, or leave it up with corrections?  After some deliberation, I have decided to leave it up but strike out the erroneous text and correct the title.  This is my way of accepting responsibility for my mistake.  However, I will remove the diary entirely if either Gary Randall or Larry Stickney request me to via e-mail.

Oregonian Gary Randall and his Washington operative Larry Stickney are hiding something: their Referendum 71 campaign expenses.  The Olympian reported weeks ago that
Larry Stickney...said he printed 60,000 of the R-71 jumbo petitions June 5 and circulated all but 2,000 by Friday.
Gary Randall subsequently pitched an additional plan to "[P]ut out a large mailing...to over 50,000 homes that are known to be social conservatives. We want mail a petition to every home on that list.".  That plan would have required printing 50,000 additional petitions.  The fate of the plan remains unremarked upon by Randall.

So we know that Stickney's and/or Randall's organization(s) paid for the printing of 60,000 petitions, and perhaps up to another 50,000.  To date, however, Stickney's organization Protect Marriage Washington has only reported $3.61 in expenses.  Randall's Faith & Freedom PAC, which is "dedicated" to the referendum effort, has only reported $1,553.51 in expenses, $1,119 of which Gary Randall apparently paid to himself to set up a redundant website.  Neither organization reports design or printing expenses.  It's hard to believe that 60,000 to 110,000 petitions got printed for free.

Larry Stickney Tosses in the Twitter Towel

by: Lurleen

Mon Jun 29, 2009 at 18:01:29 PM EDT

Was it the embarrassment of the minnescule list of Twitter followers that finally got to Larry, or the embarrassment of his inability to keep tweet promises?  In any case, anti-family activist Larry Stickney has dropped the Twitter badge from his web page and prevented unapproved followers from reading further tweets.  Great way to build a grassroots campaign, Larry.  Perhaps you think building a Twitter network is irrelevant.  After all, you'll have all those petition signer's names, addresses and e-mails to sell or trade in secret.  So why bother communicating with supporters in the light of day, right?

The Video That Larry Stickney Doesn't Want You To See

by: Lurleen

Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 11:00:00 AM EDT

The anti-child, anti-family folks at Protect Marriage Washington (Larry Stickney) and its non-cooperative competitor Faith & Freedom PAC (Gary Randall) have "released" a video.  It has the catchy title "R-71: Lawmakers Encourage Christian Participation!" and features state senator Val Stevens and representative Matt Shea.

I'd post the video here, but apparently they don't want this gem to go viral (because who would want a promotional video to have legs?).  The video host gave me this message

Sorry.  The creator of this video has not given you permission to embed it on this domain.
To view it, you'll have to go to PMW's home office or to a video hosting website that Gary linked to in a recent email (interestingly he hasn't posted the video on any of his several websites.).  Note that Larry and Gary are so much on the outs that Gary still refuses to link to any PMW web page, or even refer to the existence of "that other organization".

I wonder who masterminded this brilliant video?  Whoever it was plopped Stevens and Shea in a funeral parlor sitting room and gave Stevens whole agonizing minutes to haltingly read Larry Stickney's debunked bwaking points from a note pad.

The video opens with a crotch shot of the gay divorcee Shea.  Watch Shea's eyes wander as Stevens plods through her reading assignment.  I'll warn you, the video is a real snoozer.  Heads will nod in darkened sanctuaries.  I recommend that clergy show it before communion if they use real wine.

Bonus track: Watch Larry Stickney admit that there isn't enough non-dominionist church support to get this referendum on the ballot.

I Almost Feel Sorry for Dim Bulb Larry

by: Lurleen

Fri Jun 19, 2009 at 11:00:00 AM EDT

Ever laugh 'till you snort, then laugh more and so hard that no sound comes out but tears roll on like Columbia roll on?  Oh my, I wish you could read the latest email I just got from Larry Stickney.  Alas, he hasn't posted it to his website yet.  Despite Twittering on June 17th "Updating our websites!", the most recent news is still from mid-May.  You'll just have to make do with my cut & paste.  But it'll be worth it, trust me.

UPDATE: Gary Randall continues to actively divert Referendum donations into his non-referendum PAC.  To borrow a lyric, "Sheeple get ready, there's a shearing coming..."

Gary & Larry Relegated to Doing Own Mule Work

by: Lurleen

Wed Jun 17, 2009 at 11:00:00 AM EDT

Referendum 71 seeks to repeal the incremental Domestic Partnership Expansion Law of 2009 in Washington state, but would not do away with domestic partnerships.  I have no doubt that there are some very determined and dedicated people pushing the smarmy referendum.  However, it is telling that both Larry Stickney and Gary Randall have had to do the donkey work themselves.  In any reasonably popular effort, campaign managers propose while volunteers dispose.
I was personally out Saturday helping deliver petitions.  ---Gary Randall
And you can practically hear the sweat dripping off of Larry's drenched-to-squishy shirt
Having personally logged over 1500 driving miles in the past five days delivering R-71 petitions...  ---Larry Stickney

What does this tell us of the campaign?  Well, let's just say that when the latest padding of your endorsement list is a retiree who admits that he heads up a "small organization" (I was visitor 164 to his website) and has previously spoken publicly against the referendum as a foolhardy endeavour (see Wayne Lawson quote), what this tells us is that the campaign has very little popular support indeed.

Steven Pidgeon bonus track below the fold.

Larry Stickney in Review

by: Lurleen

Thu Jun 11, 2009 at 10:00:00 AM EDT

We've learned a lot in the past few months about Larry Stickney, the campaign manager for Protect Marriage Washington.  This is the misnamed group trying to repeal of Washington's Domestic Partnership Expansion Law of 2009 via Referendum 71.

Since a lot of what we know about this anti-family activist is scattered across newspaper articles, blog posts and public documents, I thought it worthwhile to begin assembling it in one place, in the form of a link library.  Items are categorized according to my opinion - your mileage may vary.  Be sure to bookmark this page because I will update it as new information becomes available.  Similar reviews of Mr. Stickney's colleagues at Protect Marriage Washington will be forthcoming.

Are Gary Randall and Larry Stickney Capable of Keeping a Promise?

by: Lurleen

Sat Jun 06, 2009 at 12:00:00 PM EDT

Friday, June 5, 2009
I just got off the phone with Larry Stickney and those working with us to get the Referendum 71 petitions to the press....It will go to print this afternoon.  --Gary Randall
Uh huh.  Now where have I heard that before?
Wednesday, June 3, 2009
...we will now go to print Wednesday afternoon, June 3.  --Gary Randall
Ah, right.  But wasn't there another even earlier promise?  Oh yes, here it is:
Monday, June 1, 2009
Larry Stickney just called...said he's putting the final touches on the referendum drive petition and hopes to start printing copies as early as Tuesday.  --Gary Randall
Preceded, of course by this
Friday, May 29, 2009
R-71 petitions will be available at various locations (to be announced and posted on the website this week).  --Larry Stickney
Well, it's not like you had been planning on running a referendum or anything.  Oh wait, you've been fundraising since February off of the referendum promise.  And here we thought you had your act in gear the day before the governor signed the legislation, when you said this
Sunday, May 17, 2009
The R-71 petitions will be printed and made available shortly after the Governor puts her signature to a final bill (which she is expected to do on Monday) and after final text and summary are approved by the Attorney General (expected within five days of the Governor's signing).  --Larry Stickney
Gee, that "5 days after the signing" thing didn't work out too well, did it, seeing as you yourself WASTED 10 days challenging the ballot language yourself, only to prematurely ejaculate that plan.

Scamalicious.  Don't forget to donate!  Gary needs help paying those $38,491.63 (or so) in back taxes!

Rinky-Dink Minister Count Upped to Five!

by: Lurleen

Thu May 28, 2009 at 10:00:00 AM EDT

UPDATE: Gary Randall's daily blog post tells us all we need to know.  More at end of diary.
There is a new entry on Protect Marriage Washington's endorsement list: "Pastor Tim Robinson, CityGate Church of Puyallup".  Take a look at the awesome resources at this pastor's disposal.  The church has no website and isn't even listed in several area church directories.  However, there was one mention of Pastor Robinson last year in the Tacoma News Tribune.  The title speaks for itself: "40 Days For Life: Vigil or Harassment?"

PMW can't even assemble a convincing religious veneer for their hate-mongering money grab.  This does not bode well for the success of their petition drive or for their acceptance by the general public.

I Did *Not* See This Coming

by: Lurleen

Tue May 26, 2009 at 23:08:25 PM EDT

Today was the last day anyone could file a challenge to the ballot language that the Washington State Attorney General proposed for Referendum 71.  Referendum 71 seeks to repeal the recently-passed Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009 which gives same-sex couples all the state-level rights, responsibilities and privileges of marriage.

All eyes were expectantly on Equal Rights Washington, but who showed up at the courthouse today to protest the language of the referendum?  None other than the referendum's daddy, Larry Stickney.

A Simple Question for Gary Randall & Larry Stickney

by: Lurleen

Fri May 15, 2009 at 13:43:25 PM EDT

If Oregonian Gary Randall & his bumbling Washington operative Larry Stickney have finally formed an official Referendum 71 Ballot Committee called Protect Marriage Washington, why is Oregon Gary still diverting funds to his Faith & Freedom PAC?
We believe in miracles. We also believe in the people who stand for marriage. Together, with God's help, we believe we can get this referendum on the ballot. To say we need your support and help would be an understatement.
You know, I do believe that he does believe in miracles.  The miracle of the shell game.  C'mon people, give!  Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!

Larry Stickney's Referendum off to a Bumbling Start

by: Lurleen

Tue May 05, 2009 at 10:45:00 AM EDT

UPDATE:  THIS IS HUGE.  Pastor Joe Fuiten, former brother-in-arms with Larry & Oregon Gary, sent out an e-mail this morning quoting clergy and other hard-core anti-LGBTs on how craven this referendum effort is, and why it will fail.  No wonder Larry refused to name the members of the "broad-based coalition" he claimed Monday to be working with - it doesn't exist.  Read Fuiten's e-mail at the bottom of the post.
This is what happens when your carpetbagging, tax-evading leader apparently drops out in disgrace and you replace him with an understudy who openly lies about legislation and thinks it's smart to advertise his campaign FAILURES on his resume.  Here is one reporter's description of the scene as Larry Stickney officially started the referendum process on Monday to repeal Washington's as-yet-to-be-signed-by-the-governor Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009:
Most major ballot measure campaigns (e.g. last year's assisted suicide measure, or anything by Tim Eyman) milk the news of their filing for maximum free publicity to get the word out. In Eyman's case, we practically have to roll up our car windows on him as we pull out of the parking lot.

But Stickney was clearly caught off guard - and annoyed - to find several reporters waiting for him at the Secretary of State's elections division. He initially declined to take questions.

"I'll have that all in a nice, tidy press release later this afternoon," he said

Ten Rationalizations for Running a Doomed Referendum Against Domestic Partnerships

by: Lurleen

Sun May 03, 2009 at 12:00:00 PM EDT

UPDATE  I was right - the begging bowl has definitely been passed from Gary Randall to Larry Stickney.  Larry officially filed a referendum today.
Washington state's legislature recently passed the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009 (SB 5688), which makes Washington DPs almost equal to marriage.  The local Professional Christians are having a ball raising money off the event by scaring their followers into believing that DPs will destroy America, etc. etc., assuring that the promised referendum is the only way to save the day, then asking for donations into their coffers rather than the dedicated fund for the referendum.  Slick, huh?

Gary Randall was supposedly the guy "asked to lead" (see his 4/20/2009 diary) a referendum effort to repeal the new DP law.  But since Oregon Gary has been exposed as a carpetbagging, tax-evading, money-grubbing incompetent, it looks like the begging bowl has been passed to Larry Stickney.  Larry, the guy who features campaign failures on his resume, has posted a "rally the troops" piece on his website.  It's called TEN GOOD REASONS TO RUN A REFERENDUM TO SAVE MARRIAGE NOW!  Yes, he's the sort to write in caps.  And he lies like no tomorrow.  Read the post and my comments (in green) below the fold.

The Washington Hate Coalition: What a Bunch of Whiners

by: Lurleen

Mon Apr 06, 2009 at 21:32:09 PM EDT

I got emails Monday from Washington Hate Coalition members Russell Johnson (of scare emails fame, right) and from Larry "I'm a failure, hire me!" Stickney (left).  They were whining that the Washington State House Ways & Means Committee changed the scheduled date for the hearing on SB 5688, the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009.

Anyone keeping tabs on legislative hearings will know that their schedules frequently get changed.  Lawmaking is a dynamic process and not always amenable to strict timelines.  The WA legislature acknowledges this by placing "subject to change" notices next to scheduled dates.

But as usual, reason be damned; these guys like to play the persecuted christian martyr.  It's good for meeting fund raising goals.  Check out Mr. Johnson's HILARIOUS lie-encrusted email below.  For clarity, I've numbered his fabrications and provided a rebuttal in green.

Would You Give Larry Stickney Your Money?

by: Lurleen

Mon Mar 30, 2009 at 10:00:15 AM EDT

Larry Stickney is the director of the anti-LGBT Washington Values Alliance, and he's trolling for dollars.  The question is, after you read his resume and grade his recent homework, would you give him your money?

The only two campaigns he has managed, FAILED.  His resume states:

Larry also served as campaign manager during [John] Koster's 2000 Congressional bid...In 1999, he managed the Initiative 694 measure to ban partial-birth abortion.
Koster lost to the pro-LGBT Democrat Rick Larsen (D-WA02), who still holds the congressional seat almost 10 years later.  And Washington voters roundly rejected Larry's anti-choice initiative.  I'm really scratching my head - who puts failures on their resume?  And who gives money to people who put failures on their resume?

Maybe Larry's abysmal track record helps to explain his incomprehensible decision to waste $$$ airing t.v. ads aimed at, I kid you not, solidly pro-equality legislators.  Did he really think these bullying ads would change the votes of senators who have sponsored and/or voted for every DP bill to date?  By his own admission, "These ads have cost us a lot of money and we will need more if we want them to continue!"  Lord. Have. Mercy.  Either Larry is really as dim as his choice of resume highlights suggests, or he's got a buddy in the business he likes to float cash to.

In his recent fund raising letter, Larry says We are earning your confidence and trust.  I'm wondering just how he figures that.

by: Lurleen

Wed Mar 25, 2009 at 19:57:25 PM EDT

On Monday, March 23rd, the Washington State House Judiciary Committee heard testimony on SSB 5688, the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009.

Not surprisingly, delegates from The Washington Hate Coalition repeated their same tired lies and distortions.  As I listened to their testimony, I decided that we need to produce a sheet of concise responses to these lies, because we all know that they will keep repeating them until people accept them as the unquestioned truth.  Below is my transcript of the testimony of the two main Hate Coalition members to testify.  I have numbered their statements to facilitate our responses.  My responses are embedded within the transcript and are in green typeface.  I look forward to your comments.

Washington's ANTI-Equality Lobby Day - with pictures!

by: Lurleen

Thu Mar 19, 2009 at 23:04:08 PM EDT

Dominic Holden over at The Stranger's SLOG has it right.  He's calling today's anti-equality rally in Olympia a Last Gasp.  The rally was organized specifically to show opposition to the Domestic Partnership Expansion Bill of 2009.  The bill has already passed in the Senate, and has enough co-sponsors in the House to all but assure passage.  And the governor is eager to sign.

Holden quotes Senator Ed Murray, co-author of the bill

I think the rally is probably more of an attempt by certain organizations to find a reason for being, to fill their own coffers and keep their own organization going.  They are down in polls and down in the legislature. It is not a happy time for them.

Josh Friedes, Advocacy Director for Equal Rights Washington, adds a more sobering note.

"What they are trying to say is if you vote for this bill we will try to get you in November and look how strong we are," says Friedes. "I don't think they have that kind of strength to affect candidate election outcomes." But, he notes, anti-gay-marriage sentiment may be strong enough to pass an initiative or referendum banning gay marriage.
UPDATE:  Josh, who I've known for many years back from his days at the Freedom to Marry Coalition of Massachusetts and MassEquality, e-mailed me to elaborate on his statements, saying:
The public is not yet fully comfortable with the idea of marriage equality but the conversation around the domestic partnership bill has helped voters and legislators understand why anything less than marriage is less than equal. The good news is that public polls done by the University of Washington show that there is very strong public support for the contents of the domestic partnership bill and growing support for marriage equality. So we need time to build public support for marriage equality in Washington state. We will move a marriage equality bill when we can win a referendum. While we do this important work, LGBT families in Washington will have the  protections afforded by the the domestic partnership law.

Some personal observations of the day after the flip.  But first, please, DONATE a few bucks to Equal Rights Washington.  They are the organization standing between us and The Washington Hate Coalition.  Like most non-profits, they have had to lay off an employee due to major budget cuts.  We need them.  Please give.

Please stay tuned because if they do pass, I will let you know what the next step will be.
I've been taking a wait and see policy to see who else would stand up for righteousness and no one has.

Pastor Hutcherson

"Please pray"?  That's all?  Don't you think it strange that he's not asking his sheeple to call their legislators?

And can anyone miss the thinly-veiled snipe in the last sentence at Gary Randall of the Faith and Freedom Network & Larry Stickney of the Washington Values Alliance?  It's been Randall and Stickney who, during Hutch's silence, have been testifying and marshalling the herd and dutifully producing Lie-o-rama t.v. ads.

My guess is that Hutcherson figures that there is no stopping the passage of the bill, so he's going to sit back and let his rivals fail so he can swoop in with a referendum plan and play savior.  It's a two-fer for him: he gets to piss on gays, and he gets to be king of the christofascist hill.  Until, that is, he tumbles down the mountain.  Because every grand scheme Hutch launches (bringing Microsoft to its knees, anyone?) fails miserably.
