Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Christian Civic League of Maine's Heath on the 'insidious methods' of the Homo Agenda

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Jul 31, 2009 at 09:30:00 AM EDT

NOTE: Contribute to the Maine campaign to ensure marriage equality remains in place here, via ActBlue, and you can also help Maine Freedom to Marry. Joe has a big post up on the Maine fight.

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Heath is gloating about reaching the number of signatures needed to put "the people's veto" re: marriage equality on the ballot. He boasts even as he tries to make the anti-equality movement look like an underdog (via e-blast from his sidekick Mike Hein, whose email handle is "twofistedmanofgod"):

The Christian Civic League of Maine is encouraged and heartened by the presentation of petitions for the people's veto.  We view the presentation of the petitions as a significant step towards defeating the radical homosexual agenda in Maine.  The people of Maine are to be congratulated for their efforts, in particular, our friends and supporters who signed the petitions or helped gather signatures.

We must take a sober and measured view of the meaning of the presentation of these petitions.  It shows above all, that the people of Maine are overwhelmingly opposed to same-sex marriage.  But we must not become overconfident.  The people of Maine should be mindful that the presentation of the petitions is not the final victory.  It is rather a milestone on the road to victory.  Victory in November is not a foregone conclusion. Our opposition has unlimited financial resources, a clever propaganda campaign which plays on traditional Maine values, and that most powerful factor of all, the support of the media and the liberal establishment.

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:

"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior."
(CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)
We must also be mindful that this is a struggle that has lasted twenty years.  During these twenty years, the Christian Civic League of Maine, led by its Executive Director, Michael S Heath, has been a bulwark against the gay rights movement.  Nonetheless, the opposition overcame the will of the people with their persistent, incremental efforts; and they have been absolutely relentless in their pursuit of their ultimate goal, gay marriage.

We must be just as determined, and match their every effort, step by step; and when they have done their utmost, we must do a little more.  This war will be won in the hearts and minds of our neighbors. If the government imposes an unfair and unjust law, as the Maine Legislature and the Governor have done with the same-sex marriage law, and if the opposition deceitfully claims that homosexual marriage is a grassroots efforts by the people of Maine, then each citizen must have his say, through public comment, then at the ballot box.

If the government and the liberal establishment seek to silence the people on a matter of conscience, then it is the duty of each citizen to make his voice heard.  During the past twenty years, the Christian Civic League of Maine won two referendums, only to see same-sex marriage passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor.

Experience tells us that our struggle will not be over with yet another vote.  Our work will be finished when each and every citizen in Maine understands the false claims and insidious methods used by the homosexual rights movement. Our victory will be won when society no longer views homosexuality as normal, and same-sex marriage as desirable.  To this end we must have true grit and unwavering persistence and fortitude.

The Christian Civic League will continue to stand by the people of Maine as they go forward to defend marriage, and together we will win the victory.

With his claim that each citizen has a right to have a say at the ballot box -- regarding civil rights, mind you -- does he really want that precedent set in his state? What else will he want to have a say on, hmmm...divorce...parental rights? Maybe the people of Maine will want to rise up and do something about the rights of fundamentalist busybodies who want to deny certain select groups of people rights.

UPDATE: BTW, watch out Heath and Hein (and the rest of these people), I may show up there to personally campaign against your hate initiative, see below the fold.

Maine Family Policy Council is running out of gas

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Nov 21, 2008 at 20:00:00 PM EST

Mike Hein, Mike Heath and the rest of the idle fundamentalists in the homosexual stronghold of New England are trying to gin up some outrage by tying random events to The Gay Agenda in the wake of Prop 8 - screaming about hate crimes. From a press release that landed in my inbox from Hein:
Michael S. Heath, Executive Director of the Maine Family Policy Council, today commented on hate crimes perpetrated by gay activists on members of the public who are defending the institution of marriage and the family:

"Following the passage of Proposition 8 in California, militant gay rights activists have perpetrated various hate crimes against members of the public. These hate crimes have included mailing letters containing a white powder to Mormon temples in Salt Lake City and in Modesto, California. In another hate crime, a Book of Mormon was burned and left on the doorstep of a Mormon church. In the Castro District of San Francisco, a member of a group of praying Christians was kicked and beaten. In the worst incident, a bomb exploded at the home of a missionary in Vancouver, British Columbia, leaving the missionary with deep lacerations to his face and chest.

"Hate crime professionals in Maine reacted to these despicable acts with complete silence. We have not heard one word of protest from Steven Wessler, Executive Director of the Center for the Prevention of Hate Crime Violence, Maine Attorney General Steven Rowe, Assistant Attorney General Thomas Harnett, or liberal columnist Bill Nemitz. The public is growing increasingly curious why self-proclaimed advocates of love, tolerance, and compassion choose to remain silent when religious conservatives are insulted, beaten, and terrorized. Their silence is making it painfully obvious that they in fact have a hidden agenda.

"The Maine Family Policy Council joins with all people of good will in asking that hate crime professionals in Maine denounce these recent acts of hate violence in the strongest possible terms. In the past, hate crime professionals have accused the opponents of the gay rights movement of encouraging violence merely through their quotation of portions of Holy Scripture. Yet when radical gay activists attack Christians and other conservative voices, hate crime professionals turn and look away. The double standard is appalling.

"The Maine Family Policy Council extends this opportunity to Steven Wessler, Steven Rowe, Thomas Harnett, and Bill Nemitz  to prove that the  hate crimes movement is not  a hoax foisted on an unsuspecting public, a McCarthyesque movement which seeks to squelch its opposition,  while remaining silent when innocent members of the public are the victims of terror."

Maine's Christian Civic League Blinks!

by: Louise

Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 18:03:18 PM EDT

(Shall we bring out the tiny violin for CCLM? - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

This is breaking news, via Bangor Daily News online and wonderful news indeed.

UPDATED: 155 reader comments via Portland Press Herald's website.

From the article, CCL's Michael Heath:

"We're pulling the plug," said Michael Heath, executive director of the Christian Civic League of Maine. Heath said the evangelical group failed to attract voter, volunteer and financial support it needed to continue its campaign.

The group collected only a third of the 15,000 voters' signatures it had set as a goal for primary election day June 10, said Heath. He added said that potential volunteers "don't want to be aligned with bigotry and homophobia and hatred," tags their opponents had applied to the initiative backers.

Mike Hein and Freepers Attack 11-Year-Old Transgendered Girl In Orono, Maine

by: jackalope

Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 19:36:55 PM EST

(Update: Because Autumn has linked to this post frequently as part of ongoing stories, I have decided to go back and fix several gender references [7 total including the title] that were originally incorrect, solely for the sake of clarity. The errors were an ignorant mistake on my part, as is noted in the first few comments. In some cases instead of fixing the gender reference, I added some quote marks to clarify that I was quoting the wrong gender directly from the erroneous media sources; this is an important detail which I felt was obfusciated because of my errors, and in fact was the cause of them. The main text, sentiment, and any other errors of mine have not otherwise been altered. 7/26/08 )

A few minutes ago the lede up to the local 6 o'clock news here in northern Maine on WABI (CBS) caught my ear and I had to sit down to watch: "Controversy" was brewing over a "boy using a girl's restroom" at Orono Middle School. (Orono is near Bangor, and home to the Unviversity of Maine, a generally progressive area.)

An 11 year-old "boy who wants to become a girl" was being hounded by some local parents who didn't want him using the girl's restroom.

Then the actual story came on and I couldn't believe my eyes. Only one person was interviewed for the story; the bigoted grandfather of one of the girl's fellow students, who in response to learning of the transgender student, told his own grandson to begin using the girl's restroom as well in protest. The bigot's grandson was promptly suspended and now the old man is leading a one-man crusade on the subject. Footage was shown of him being promptly cut off at the school board meeting, being told that the girl in question was now being forced to use the 'correct' bathroom. (wtf?)

No one from the school was interviewed. None of the girl's parents, friends, parents of friends, counselor or any opposing viewpoint whatsoever was presented.  The story ended with the old man vowing to continue his fight.

Christian Civic League of Maine endorses the Blend

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Oct 15, 2007 at 20:30:00 PM EDT

Can a fundie endorsement get any better than this? The folks at the Christian Civic League of Maine appear to read the Blend with some regularity.

I had a couple of posts up (Blender Herb pointed me to CCLM's activities, see my links below) about the sad anti-gay shenanigans and proselytizing going on up there. It's tough times for the religious right, as Maine has instituted broad anti-discrimination measures and domestic partnerships. They simply aren't getting the traction they'd like.

Pam's House Blend is a "leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy," according to Mike Hein. The pro-sodomy site averages 110,000 hits per month, making it one of the most widely read left-wing political blogs in the United States.

Earlier this month, Spaulding, herself a Duke University Employee, questioned League reporter Mike Hein's credibility for his plan to cover Soulforce's rally at the Statehouse in Augusta, calling his news brief "laughable". Hein said he is praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior and accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior."
The article also mentions that I called CCLM's Mike Heath the "Peter LaBarbera of New England," seeing that as a high compliment because he has called The Peter a "hero" on Heath's radio program/podcast, Faith Matters in Maine.

I really don't get the whole "pro-sodomy" hoohah. Is he claiming heterosexuals do not engage in sodomy, and only engage in procreative sex? Or is it AOK for het sodomy but same-sex sodomy is out?

And what about this whole "radical transgender advocacy"? Is there some non-radical, mainstream T advocacy going on that I'm unaware of that passes muster with the CCLM?

In honor of my endorsement, Melissa of Shakesville created this graphic for her post, One-Stop Sodomy Shopping:

Maine anti-gay hack Mike Heath calls for 'Save Our State Act'

by: Pam Spaulding

Sun Oct 14, 2007 at 11:00:00 AM EDT

Blender Herb passed on the latest laff-fest from the Peter LaBarbera of New England, Mike Heath of the Christian Civic League of Maine. He is unhinged over the fact that his state has authorized domestic partnerships and expanded anti-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation  -- defined broadly as "a person’s actual or perceived heterosexuality, bisexuality, homosexuality, gender identity, or gender expression."

Heath is calling for a citizen initiative to address the overpowering Homosexual Agenda -- the "Save our State Act."
Let’s call it the SOS initiative.  It would be a citizen’s initiative.  It would be a frontal attack on sexual orientation theory.  That is the theory that causes a fog of dumbness to cloud the otherwise clear adult mind.  What else could possibly account for school administrators labeling a 10 year old boy “special needs,” fitting him with a dress and sending him into the girl’s bathroom?  That happened last week at the Ada Adams Elementary School in Orono.

The SOS initiative must do three things:

   1. Eliminate domestic partnership benefits in Maine law.
   2. Eliminate the possibility of same sex marriage, including civil unions.
   3. Eliminate the sexual orientation language added to the Maine Human Rights Act two years ago.

The only way this initiative can be enacted is by citizen action.  There isn’t one politician or businessman (well maybe one or two) with the courage to save Maine from this scourge.  The only group that is smart enough to accomplish this is the average Joe.  Thank God there’s more of them than there are “educated” and rich people.  If we wait for the elites to do the right thing we can kiss common sense good bye.  The rainbow flag will be flying over the State House before they decide to do anything to stop the “gays.”

...If, on the other hand, you do care about your kids and grandkids, you will DO SOMETHING to get Maine out of its defensive posture with these people. You will stand up for good, old fashioned, common sense. As my good friend Sandy Williams says, "A nut is not a bolt, and a bolt is not a nut. It takes both a nut and bolt to complete the job. A man is not a woman and a woman is not a man. It takes a man and a woman to make a marriage, and to raise a family."
