Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Fight OUT Loud on the Portland Teenage Lesbian's Bus Kiss

by: RadicalRuss

Sat Jun 23, 2007 at 18:03:21 PM EDT

Just received this email from Wayne Hudson of Fight OUT Loud:
Fight OUT Loud has been in contact with the girls and their families.  We have been guiding and assisting them in getting some sort of resolution. We have also issued an "action email alert" to our over 1000 members,  which has resulted in flooding the offices of Trimet, the mayor's office, and the tourism board.

I have been in constant contact with the Portland Mayor's office as well, which has no direct control over TriMet or discipling the bus driver.  While they cannot directly affect TriMet, I feel they have a duty and obligation to pressure the bus company to do the right thing and (a) fire the driver, (b) at the very least remove the driver from the route so the GLBT youth will not have to come in contact with him on the way to the Sexual Minority Youth Recreation Center, a safe haven for gay youth, and (c) make the punishment of the driver public to help put to rest the concerns of the girls and the community as a whole.

I would greatly appreciate if you could help spread the word about our efforts.  To see how exactly what our efforts are and the services we provide, go to our webpage (www.fightoutloud.org) and check out our "action alerts".  We really need to lend our voices to these girls and express our outrage at the whole situation.

Thanks, Wayne, and I'm glad to do so.  And thanks for reminding me about a critical aspect of this story.  Those two girls were riding to the LGBT Teen Center on that bus line!  That driver must be removed from that service line at the very least.

Thanks, Russ
Posted the info on my blog (so the 1.36 people who read it regularly will know how to take action).

Girls, Lisa. Boys kiss girls.

Hmm. My two cents.
I agree with a or b, depending on what the review and disciplinary process calls for, but I don't agree with C.  Making the driver's punishment panic may be against the rules of the organization, may violate the driver's right to privacy... Also, is Tri-Met union?  If so, they may not have the option to make the punishment public, so a gay rights issue will be competing with a labor-fought right under contract.  Progressive causes dueling with each other only helps the right.
What matters is that action is taken, that the *issue* is made public, that people see such actions have consequences, that Tri-Mat makes necessary changes to their training to ensure that it doesn't happen again.  Focusing on forcing / trying to force Tri-Met to tell us what specific actions happened to the one guy sounds more like we're out for blood than seeking change.

Sorry
weird spell check. Second line should read "Making the driver's punishment public"

Thanks, Russ!
Thank you for getting word of our efforts out.  It is very important to stand up with one voice when the most vulnerable members of the GLBT community need our help.  Above all, I want to make it clear to the girls and their families that they have support since it can be very hard and lonely to stand up and fight back.

There are privacy and union issues surrounding the driver and his punishment.  However, there is also the issue of public safety. These two young girls, and other GLBT youth, need to be assured that they will be safe and not ejected from a bus in the middle of nowhere.

Fight OUT Loud is a non-profit organization focused on helping individuals who are victims of discrimination and hate.  www.fightoutloud.org

Definitely.  However, that assurance will not come from or be enabled by a public declaration of the driver's punishment.  What matters is the institution, not the individual.
