The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

More lies from the anti-hate crimes legislation crowd

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 10:15:00 AM EDT

The House Judiciary Committee completed the mark up on the hate crimes bill yesterday, passing it out of Committee on a 20-14 party line vote. HRC's Joe Solmonese (via email) on the progress:
Law enforcement is now one step closer to getting the tools they need to combat hate violence...Although there were over 20 attempts to derail this legislation today in committee, our allies in Congress stood strong and secured its passage.  We are a long way from declaring victory, but we are as committed as ever to continuing to fight back the last desperate attempts by extremists and make sure this bill is realized as the law of the land."
If you want to get an idea of the desperation of the opposition to the bill, take a look at the relentless ignorant propaganda from the religious right. The claims of a threat to free speech and freedom of religion is at a fever pitch as the action alerts go out to the sheeple, with the cry that "a pastor's sermon concerning homosexuality could be considered an incitement to violence and punished with a fine or prison."

Look at this BS from Lou Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition; it's completely out of control:

Homosexual/Drag Queen Hate Crimes Bill On Fast Track

We must defeat H.R. 1592, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007, by Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Democrat from Michigan.

Without your action, this anti-Christian legislation will pass -- under the guise of hate-crime prevention -- and accomplish the following homosexual goals:

  * Silence the Bible-believing Churches, Pastors and Christians

  * Criminalize so-called "hate speech," - which is any speech that is critical of homosexuality or cross-dressing behaviors. The suppression of free speech will be justified by the claim that such speech "incites" individuals to commit violence against homosexuals, cross-dressers etc. Any remarks about homosexuality, such as reading Bible passages, preaching on these passages, telling a person they can come out of the homosexual lifestyle, etc. will be deemed critical remarks and will be ruled to be outside the bounds of First Amendment protections for pastors, business owners and individuals.

  * Elevate homosexuality and gender confused individuals  such as drag queens, cross-dressers, she-males, etc. to the status of federally-protected minorities. These behaviors will be considered equal to race under the federal law.

  * Interfere with local law enforcement by elevating every alleged incident of "hate" against a homosexual or cross-dresser into a federal crime.

  * Fund anti-Christian curriculum for children K-12, through the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice to promote homosexuality and cross-dressing as normal behaviors.

What is wrong with these people? Considering the hate crimes laws already in place that cover race, religion, gender, etc. for years, have we seen rampant prosecutions taking away their ability to spew, for instance, racist crap from the pulpit? NO.

Help pass hate crimes legislation.

[UPDATE: Rachel Perrone of the ACLU emailed me to say that the House Majority Leader's office projects that the bill will go to the House floor next Thursday. It's time to contact your members of Congress, because they have been flooded with correspondence from the fundies, some offices reporting as many as 500-600 constituent letters generated from action items spurred on by the likes of Wildmon, Dobson, Perkins and Sheldon on the other side.]

yeah jesus was all about judging and hating others
WTF?

Amen
We think alike.  I wrote a long letter to a fundie editorial writer today making that very point.  It's funny that the professed believers in Jesus are the ones who act least like Him.

Jesus Loves Me This I Know, For the Bible Tells Me So!
Hi All,

Many of us have been taught to believe that Jesus said nothing about us, but look at Matthew 19:11-12....NOTE:  These words are in RED!  Isn't it wonderful that Jesus really does love us, and hates the Pharisee-ish attitude that the money grabbing, power hungry, haters in sheeps' clothing?  God loves all His children....even us!  AMEN!

11But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

12For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

May God bless us all, May God bless Matthew Sheppard, and may God bless the United States of America......SOON!!!!!!!!!

Must be a different Jesus than the one I know
I never read anything in the Red Letters where Jesus said, "Beat up the fags."

Now the Old Testament has all that stuff about enslaving, stoning, and killing others, but the Jesus I heard of came to do away with that old law.

To believe that God (and Jesus, for that matter) said it's okay to hate and kill...well, that's one twisted, perverted version of Christianity.  One I don't recognize.

Delusional Sky God Worshippers
Aw, come on the supposed Messiah never had a single word attributable to him that said anything regarding homosexuality.

The Romans killed him for political reasons just like the Feds here murdered or ignored the murders of so many civil rights workers here in the 1960s.

The Taliban Christians with their McMegachurches worship a god that never was and a Jesus who wouldn't recognize himself as the same person they claim he was.

McMegachurches
  I recall this fundies saying,

This legislation will lock religious people inside their church buildings,  McMegachurches sounds like there is plenty of room!

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

I must have missed those verses
Wanted for revealing the truth about homosexuality in "The Bible" and encouraging his followers not to offend God by committing such behavior

Oh, silly me. I keep forgetting that they see Paul as equivalent to Jesus. And that Paul's writings about castigating and controlling women, gays, and anyone else he saw as a threat are way more important than what that Jesus guy said about loving and helping everyone.

Just goes to show
you their bible is NOT the word of their so called "God" but the rantings and opinions of the men who wrote it.

[ Parent ]
Not a peep
was said by Jesus specifically about homosexuality.  Their poster is a stretch at best.  I think it would be fair to call it a deception.

[ Parent ]
these guys are really on our side
There are a lot of otherwise decent folks (most of my family for example) that try to be on the fence about equality and human rights.

The work of fundamentalist extremists forces those people to examine their views and decide if they want to align themselves with the haters, or if they would rather not be associated with this sort of disgusting idealogy.

We can't possibly make these folks look as bad as they make themselves look.

I wish that were so...
I hope you're right, though I'm not as confident as you are.  Unfortunately, part of the focus of the endless right-wing surround-sound media blitz is ensuring that no-one need ever reconsider an opinion.

Remember how Fred Phelps spent twenty years picketting the funerals of AIDS patients?  The media completely ignored him, despite the incredible toll in human suffering he caused.  So he widened his strategy, and began picketting the funerals of soldiers, claiming a connection between their deaths and America's alleged support for gays & lesbians.  And as soon as that happened--when the media could no longer ignore him--the engine went into high gear.  Sean Hannity, who typically never bothered to do the slightest research on the guy (why interfere with your already-set opinions?) claimed that Phelps was a plant of the gay rights movement, out to discredit people who attack gays.  An article appeared in the National Review making the same case.

The point is, there's no media engine that the nutters are exposed to that will ever cause them to critique their own beliefs.  And there's a tremendous wealth of resources going in to making the claim that, as white Christians, they are the "real" persecuted minority in this country.  (Christmas under attack!)

I just fear that the only way Sheldon's claims will seem outrageous or self-defeating, is if you've already got some grounding in the facts of the matter, and the whole point of this rabble-rousing is to stir up emotion & make it impossible to have a rational discussion.  And I also fear that they're winning.

[ Parent ]
Paul was gay!!!!!!
Haven't these fundies figured that out yet????
Oh-vay!

The Fundies need to Experience a Damascus Road Event
Were Christ reveals to them that current paths they blaze are dangerous, full of persecution of their fellow human being , and a complete contradiction to G-d's plan.  They need transformation away from their current mode of life of operating with complete disregard to Christ's commandment to Love One Another. Unconditional Love means acceptance of your fellow humans, just as they are, and doing your darndest to ensure complete wellbeing of your fellow brothers & sisters.

The current crop of fundies in America... What a complete contradiction away from the one they claim to follow. Jesus would be ashamed of them.  These fundies & their misdirected leaders live with CLOSED hearts & minds. It's ever so clear their primary motivations include power over others, control of society at large, constant reign of fear and hatemongering while reaping in large sums of money.

Clumsy satire, poor artwork
Must be a conservative creation.

I think it is pretty effective
The message is wrong, the logic is swiss cheese, but the Christ is supposed to evoke a police artist's sketch.  keep in mind this is a criticism from a guy who does not know visual arts in any schooled way, but that's my impression.  It ties gay rights = attacking Jesus.  Never mind Jesus had squat to say about queers, and everything to say about loving others.

[ Parent ]
Don't you LOVE the way that
they never fail to mention transvestitism in connection with gay people; underlining the fact that they are literally terrified of men in women's clothing. They way that these people focus on external display, on clothing and manner and public demonstration rather than on intrinsic humanity, on internal values and worth, is a great indicator of the shallowness of their world view.

No wonder they collect Franklin Mint, don't get irony or camp or depth or subtlety, make bad art and cry over Anne Geddes calenders; they're weak, flimsy, sentimental people.

Sentimentality and barbarism are flip sides of the same coin.

NO!, I Don't Love The Way
The Bible Bangers arguements are falling apart, and they have to leap from one section of the Bible to another, to try to make there points.  Thier arguements fail as they break the Golden Rule, "Treat others the way you want to be treated." This is true in Christianity, Budhism, Islam, etc..

The problem is that man has take the words and twisted them to his own use to gain power over another.  The more followers one has believing his twisted words, the scarier and more dangerous they become.  And then they get further out of whack to the point of justifying murder.

The major fundies( Pat Robertson, Dobson, Falwell, Etc. )
in the USA know that they need followers to support them, so they can be seen by the greater leader ( Bush ) of having worth. And there are those seeking the great leaders recognition, ( Hutchington, Porno Pete, Dr. Cameron, Etc. ) Please note the second list has not met with Bush publically.

The use of Romans "natural" is the best the fundies have, to try to justify thier position. and than add in "procreation" for the reason a man can't love a man, and a woman love a woman.

They mention transvestitism only to try make the connection to transexualism, that is the only jump they can use except references to self mutulation.

None of the Descrimination these people practice is wtitten in the Bible, Cohran, Torrah, Etc.,

I LOVE ALL THAT DON'T HATE AND DESCRIMINATE, AND PRAY FOR THOSE WHO DO!

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

[ Parent ]
Oh God
First of all, it's Quer'an or Koran and Torah. And don't you realse how shrill and humorless you sound? If there's one thing that unites activists on the left and right in the USA, it's humorlessness. Relax dear; less praying and shouting, more explaining and logical thought. What is it about religious faith that makes people start soap-boxing in this tiresome fashion. Even the liberals start sounding like evangelicals.

[ Parent ]
And hate does not come from the brain's power to override the heart.
That's dumbass Oprah mulch; exactly the sentimentalist nonsense that i was talking about..

[ Parent ]
It just shows...
how seriously they take the words of Jesus when they basically ignore them entirely. To them, what a misogynistic and prejudiced guy wrote is way more important than anything Jesus himself actually said, or, in the case of gays, didn't say.

It makes you wonder if they even consider Jesus that important at all.

Jesus is important to them...
...but, for the most part, only as sacrificial godmeat.  Seriously.

Normal decent (mainline) christians value Jesus as a moral teacher--and take to heart all that sermon on the mount stuff--but fundies are all about 'atonement' and lots of other mystical magical mumbo jumbo.  "God sent himself to die so that He could forgive your 'original sin' and therefore not have to torture you for all eternity."  Etc.

This is one of the major differences that sets off evangelicals from the kind of christians that aren't unbearable to be around.  Evangelicals believe that the weird magic is the really important stuff, and so they explicitly deemphasize the ethical message of the gospels.

Sad.

the straight white community has a corner on that market. the maricon's don't need to start up on the racism too.steerpike66 you think you can be angry and critisize others- personally that is not what i look for in this blog. maybe you should think it over before commenting on someone's way of speaking a language that is in itself the product of an old time "imperialistic" culture.(which as an irishman you know...)
i guess i expect better from this community
(at least this blog)

ps
please don't flame me i consider this over.
thanks.

Hate Crime
Once again, logic is trumped by trotting out religious beliefs of some. Unfortunately the msm coverage that I have read concentrates on the opposition of the religious right without questioning their knowledge of the bill's content.
