Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

'No On 1' Final Rally today in Portland- Pix, Vids and a Few Thoughts

by: Louise

Mon Nov 02, 2009 at 19:00:00 PM EST

Probably my favorite shot of the day- we share the same pride in our home state!

As The Grateful Dead once sang: "What a long, strange trip it's BEEN!"

But it all comes down to TOMORROW.

Will Maine show herself to be a state that is fair?

Will Maine 'put a ring on it'?

Here is what FiveThirtyEight's Nate Silver thinks...

More below the fold.

Louise :: 'No On 1' Final Rally today in Portland- Pix, Vids and a Few Thoughts

Among the attendees were some bloggers we all know: Jeremy Hooper, Adam Bink and Julia Rosen!

While it is true that over 90% of No On 1's 8000+ volunteers are Mainers, there is no question in anyone's mind that our "friends from away" have been invaluable.

That folks have come from all corners of the country to help, that people from all around the globe have donated their time, money or both- it's overwhelming.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

Here's some of my favorite clips from today's rally:

'No On 1's Sam Parker, introduced by Jesse Connolly:

Steve and Jim, who have been a couple for 34 years:

Darlene Huntress, explaining how we got here today:

The rest of her speech here.

1-MORE-DAY, folks...

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
... still gotta prep my labs. I'll be a wreck when I'm actually doing them all day tomorrow. Everyone is in my thoughts!

Again, thank you Louise
Mainers rival Southerners with their hospitality (though it probably helps when you're not from Massachusetts, LOL).

It's like, even the few bigots that I've encountered almost seemed ashamed of it...

Man, for the 500th time, I have to say this...

This is PERSONAL. And I will be extremely pissed off if we lose this.

Kev for you and Louise and Snooky and Mainewriter and all the other volunteers
The win is also PERSONAL and your efforts made it possible.

hugs all around.
It'd be nice having the chat room open tomorrow night as we wait for results.
btw...I hope ME is a state where ballot counting is fast, I'm on pins and needles already.

Throw John Visser in the mix
he's standing right here. Winston is the hit of the office, too.

John is alright, I guess! LOL

Hugs to you, and Snooky, and Bill in Portland, and John and EVERYONE
Special hugs to Kelechi and Cody. They were awesome in getting me into a phonebank training session today. I'll call some more in the morning before work. (Don't forget, before work for me is mid-morning for you.)

I worked with Kelechi!
Both of us decided to stay here until the election.

Kelechi is another POC that has stepped up to plate here in Maine. (And it's a great backstory of this campaign!)

She was also the other passenger in the car when we were pulled over ostensibly because the driver was speeding but it became a bit of a "passagering while black" type of thing that we couldn't stop laughing about as it was taking place.

I just feel such a bond with the GLBT community now...much stronger than I felt previously.

[ Parent ]
I just sent her a thank you email
I reposted all these links, and Darlene's speech, begging for last minute phonebankers and people in the Northeast who can drive three hours to do some groundpounding tomorrow.

Kev, do you think you can get a story from Kelechi to post on the Blend? That would be AWESOME.

God save ornery old queens! - kevinchi

[ Parent ]
I'll ask her
All my peeps (who are out at the satellite offices now!) know that I read the Blend and some of them ("the shade throwers"; Kelechi is included in that group!) read the Blend now.

[ Parent ]
Hi sweetie!
Sorry Mom didn't write back yesterday, but now you know I was working!

BTW, the goodies got here yesterday afternoon- THANK YOU! :) Having GOOD coffee right now and have the card with me for good luck; omigosh do we have the same sense of humor... ;)

Love ya hon- hi to your foancee and furry critters!

a chat room can have Maine residents explain which counties to watch
That those of us outside Maine won't know about.
Same for Washington State.

It was a great event on Monument Square. Let's keep the energy going into tomorrow and beyond...

Phone banked today, Mom!
And quite an experience it was. Turns out my Korean skills came in handy! Can you believe that?

I'll be glued to the monitor tomorrow night. You ARE liveblogging the returns. AREN'T YOU?????

God save ornery old queens! - kevinchi

Oh HELL YEAH!
It will go live at 7pm- Pam and Autumn have been great getting everything set up, so all I have to do is tickety type, gab, take pix or video, upload, etc...

THANK YOU for phonebanking; that's one thing I just can't do. Tongue trips up badly... I so appreciate that and all of the canvassing folks have done so much!

The photos got me all misty, how stunning all our volunteers look, ya make me PROUD
Maine show America how it's done.

Say NO to sneaky no name donors
Say NO to stock photo fake families and models posing as Maine residents
Say NO to lies told about your LGBT friends
Say NO to hiding behind children to sell ignorance and hate
Say NO to seperate second class status

SAY NO!

My calls were pretty good today...
I got a few angry people irritated over being called so often (So why haven't they already voted??!!), but mostly folks who were ready to either go to town hall and vote early today or just vote tomorrow. I'm ready for several rounds of nail biting tomorrow night, but I'm hopeful it will be a night of celebration for a change.

Act on Principles and make equality happen.

why they didn't vote early
I got a few angry people irritated over being called so often (So why haven't they already voted??!!)

I asked about this when I was doing data entry and found a large number of people who pledged to vote on Election Day instead of voting early. I was told that many people in Maine are just stubborn about that. I said that maybe callers should tell them that if they vote early, we won't call them anymore. They said that was in the script.

Go, Maine, go! Thanks to everyone who has played a part in this wonderful campaign.

[ Parent ]
Yes
That's why we both voted absentee back in September and got our names off the lists- but still got called because I've volunteered. No prob...

And oh YEAH Mainers are stubborn! Even when it's detrimental to be so...

Mainers Can be Proud

There are so many outspoken and loving people in Maine. Also, Jesse has run a great campaign.

And btw, many thanks to Louise...
And all the other Blenders who have kept us up on everything happening in Maine! I just hope all our work pays off tomorrow...

I know this post is about Maine
But can we give a shout to Lurleen for the fabulous work that she has done in reporting the Referendum 71 goings-on in Washington.

There's no way I can describe how much I appreciate her work, be it on the ground there, writing here, or baby-sitting ME online when my nerves were shot! Lurleen is a terrific gal, a smart and tough cookie, and I admire her GREATLY. :)

Plus, funny as hell! ;)

reading Nate Silver mentioned cell phone users are more gay friendly
are our volunteers reaching cell phones?

"race, taste. and History finally overcome....and you ain't there"

Only on the completed calls
I did 2 hours this morning and the only calls that went through were to cells.

The list uses the number they gave...so it depends.

But wait, there's more!

Good luck Mainers!!
We're rooting for you!!

Rachel Maddow just covered Maine and Washington State

"race, taste. and History finally overcome....and you ain't there"

And what'd she say?
Anything new? Interesting? Encouraging?

[ Parent ]
she showed the latest polls
Her closing remark was Maine and WA state may demonstrate the strength of the sleeping giant of LGBTs, after the defeat in prop 8 awoke.

That was it?
Gah, that reminded me of the first time I had sex with a man. Afterwards I sat there saying to myself, "I got all worked up in anticipation of THAT?"

Eh, she said something. Would have been nice for more, but she does have a lot of stuff to cover this evening.

God save ornery old queens! - kevinchi

[ Parent ]
Sadly, whatever she said wouldn't matter much now
Anyone who's likely to tune into the Rachel Maddow show Monday night likely has already set their course for Tuesday. Face it, there are few undecideds or opposed watching msnbc. Her power to influence rested in her ability to point the more mainstream media toward a story a few weeks ago.

[ Parent ]
A person's heart can change,
The latest polls say there are some sitting on the fence trying to decide which way to go.  It can't hurt and if there are 2 more votes for our side, it will be worth it.

One thing I have noticed over the years,  People go one direction when it comes to LGBT rights.  People don't go from supporting our rights and then switch to opposing them.  Even though there are a few 'Ex-gay' peeps that supposedly change, that is generally for $$$MONEY$$$

Remember, our fight continues as long as LGBT citizens are treated like second and third class citizen.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

"reminded me of the first time I had sex with a man. Afterwards I sat there saying to myself, "I got all worked up in anticipation of THAT?"

HILARIOUS and so true!!!

Close the GayTM. Only give to candidates who have actually done something other than make promises - most are just pandering for our cash.

[ Parent ]
It was the only mention I heard of either Maine of WA state today
Rachel's audience is the converted, so she did a little reminder to vote, without making a BIG DEAL about it.
I thought it was the right tone, and not enough to stir the opposition.

SO glad I have "start over" on my cable
Hawaii doesn't observe the time change, but the majority of the mainland does, and like a dumbass I forgot that Rachel will show at 4 pm in Hawaii, not 5 pm.

Thanks for the heads up, petey! I can watch Rachel discuss Maine and Washington!!

Maggie Gallagher admits gay relationship better than her marriage...VIDEO
   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Maggie is so putrid, it's hard for me to watch her, and some really nasty remarks completely off the PC charts are uttered by me watching her....but I won't write them, but I think them, and think them and think them.
She really isn't any better than Ann Coulter for making rabidly sexist, sizist, misogynist go away, they prove those terms do in fact fit some women.

Pins and Needles,
That is what we will be here in Colorado.  Everyone in Maine and Washington have our support.  I wish I had the resources to do more this time.  We are hoping for success for all LGBT Americans to achieve equality.

Good luck Maine and Washington,  Love and Huggs from the HappyCat and Family.

I feel emotionally invested in the Maine and  Washington fights. I'm sending good energy both East and West on Tuesday.

Triple victory
Here's hoping for a triple victory in Maine, Washington and Kalamazoo, too!

Cheering for you all from Canada. Tomorrow I will be on the roof of my house waving an "Approve 71" sign in case anyone in Port Angeles happens to be looking this way with a telescope.

Been wearing my silver Canadian flag pendant
That I bought back in 2004 in New Brunswick so much of the campaign and it won't come off until this is over. It's one of my favorite lucky pieces.

First, it celebrates my NB roots (grandmother's parents were both from there) and secondly, it reminds me that an entire huge country can do the right thing, instead of "one state or province at a time"...

NB
My family moved to New Brunswick when I was a teenager and my only Canadian aunt lives in eastern Quebec just a few miles from Maine, so I have a bit of a soft spot toward your state.

When I was visiting my aunt last month, I was so wishing I could just pop over the border and help out on the campaign but it probably isn't kosher  for furriners to be directly involved. Not even allowed to donate. :(

But I do have constitutional right to cheerlead.
GO ME, WA, K'ZOO, GO!!!!

Let's do this
I keep seeing Approve 71 ads all over television... I can't get enough of them.

Please, please, please. School is going to be so distracting tomorrow. Let's get a full combo. Sending good energy all over!

Posted by Joe Sudbay (DC) at 5:21 PM
The Executive Director of Organizing for America sent an email to Mainers telling them to vote. Someone I know just got it:
Tomorrow is Election Day once again in Maine. It's as important as ever for you to get out to vote. And just like you did last year, bring friends, family, and co-workers with you when you go to the polls."
