The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Settlements for these victims of pedophile priests can't undo the damage

by: Pam Spaulding

Sun Sep 27, 2009 at 10:00:00 AM EDT

The Catholic Church's damage control over its lack of attention to the repeated crimes against children by its raping, pedophile priests has been to settle the cases with huge payoffs to those who come forward, as if cash could buy off the pain and suffering to the families involved.

For David Guerrero, Dominic Zamora and many others, the psychological toll of the heinous clergy abuse plays itself out over and over as an adult, regardless of the buyout. (AP via MSNBC):

Dominic Zamora rages at his father, who suspects he bought a house in someone else's name. You're not my father, Dominic screams. You just want my money. When the 36-year-old finally calls his parents three weeks later, he is drunk and angry at the world - and most especially, at them.

This was not the future the Guerreros and the Zamoras imagined when their sons received millions from the Roman Catholic church to settle claims they were molested by their childhood priests. But that was before the money ushered in a new and never-ending nightmare.

The money was meant to soothe the victims' wounds and be a bridge to a better life, and for many it did. But for a few, the most deeply scarred, the six- and seven-figure checks have instead made things far worse.

For these victims, the money has seeped like a poison into every relationship and laid bare feelings of anger, mistrust, bitterness and guilt that have been buried deep in their families for years. It has fed drug habits and alcohol binges, divided siblings and fueled resentment in parents who walked through hell with their children, only to find rejection and blame on the other side.

More below the fold.

Pam Spaulding :: Settlements for these victims of pedophile priests can't undo the damage

Guerrero received $4 million from the church and in the five years since he has received it, he's spent it on drugs, investing his money into horses, art, businesses that never opened or failed, and rant through it all to the point that he has now applied for welfare. His mood swings have taken a severe toll on the relationship with his parents. His parents, who live with him in a new two-story home bought with David's money, are powerless to intervene. They have talked about moving out, but they are afraid if they do, their son will overdose or commit suicide.

"He says, 'Well, I bought you a home, what other kid would do that for their parents? You live comfortable, you have everything you want,'" Minerva Guerrero said. "Well, I could live in a tent and be happy rather than live in a home like this with all these problems, these problems with David. This is not normal."

He's trying to put his life back together now, but it's unclear that he will be able to succeed on remaining on a clean and sober path; the demons of the abuse are clearly still there, and the money is all gone.

This is incredibly sad; these are people so damaged and without a sense or ability to cope, how do they ever find peace?

Perhaps...
Settlements for these victims of pedophile priests can't undo the damage
No - but perhaps Papa Ratzi's continuing criminal enterprise will have to shell out so much money that it will eventually go out of business.

I know...

Not gonna happen.

for a few, the most deeply scarred, the six- and seven-figure checks have instead made things far worse
And I worry that soundbites like this will be used by the continuing criminal enterprise - and its defenders - as an excuse to dodge even having to pay even a financial price for their crimes.

This is what disgusts me the most...
The church LOVES to butt into people's personal lives and tear families apart (as the Portland Archdiocese is doing in Maine), but they refuse to stop sheltering and coddling their pedophile priests. For all we know, they may still be allowing child abuse to happen under their roofs!

Now that's actually disgusting and immoral.

Act on Principles and make equality happen.

They ARE still doing it.
One of the must-reads for me every week is JoeMyGod's roundup of "holy crimes" every Monday.  A startling number of them involved pedophilia, plus the occasional out-and-out-rape.  This past week Joe reported on a Catholic pedophile priest who was actually counseled by the church to change his name before they moved him to another area.  It's the first time I've heard of them going that far to protect one of these creeps, but I'm sure it won't be the last.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.

Just my opinion...
Has anyone else listened to the hateful rhetoric of the catholic church against gays, lesbians and transgendered people and thought "why are they projecting their problems on to our community?"

They say we recruit children, but we don't have day schools,  boarding schools or alter boys.

They say we have a massive 'homosexual agenda' and some conspiracy organization. Yet they hide and protect pedophile priests using church money to send them around the world on Vatican passports to hide them and expose more children.

They say we're all sinners, that we injure children with just our presence alone.

Name a single Gay, Lesbian or Transgender organization that has expended over $2 billion dollars trying to quash the news that it recruits, trains, harbors and protects child molesters or that if you query the internet for  'catholic priest + child molester' you get nearly half a million hits.  'Catholic priest + child abuse, over 7 million hits.  They talk to catholic priests actions as aggressors. If you query similarly for 'gay + child abuse' or 'transgender + child abuse' it talks more towards the 'gay' and 'transgender' being the victim.  ....but it is the internet.

I do not see the catholic church being able to move past this and the stigma that surrounds the issues or even being able to address it until the catholic church grows up and realizes that human sexuality is part of god's gift to man. That it is healthy to express it and to allow its priesthood and nunnery to embrace it as well. Until they do these atrocities will continue and eventually could cause the church's downfall.

exactly!
I hold the same opinion, Gina.  Most of those who are against us, project their own problems upon us.  This includes orgs like the catholic church and individuals like porno pete.

The church has realized we are a good scapegoat.  If they have a "bad guy" to rally against, they will gain money from their followers and side-step their own nasty secrets.

No one group is going to rally against them successfully.  They are a world-wide money laundering business with a lot of resources.  All we can do is just spread the truth, one person at a time.

Not exactly

No - I only think: 'Why is it a criminal offense to be a member of Al Qaeda but not the Catholic priesthood?'

Conspiracy that remains unpunished
Let us not forget that the "fathers" of the Church, the Bishops, Archbishops, Auxiliary Bishops, Cardinals and even Mr. Ratzinger himself, conducted the greatest criminal conspiracy outside of organized crime that the world has ever known. They aided and abetted known rapists, defrauded parishes when they sent these monsters to prey on more children and obstructed justice through witness intimidation and payments of hush money. Not one, NOT ONE, of these men has ever been brought to justice, nor made to officially do penance by the Church.

Until and unless the Church allows justice to take place, and ensures these men are in prison, they can never really heal from this scandal. Instead, of course, they give men like Bernard Law positions of importance; in Law's case, complete with a diplomatic passport to ensure the US authorities can never touch him.

As for their rhetoric on marriage, I find it interesting that in yesterday's obituary for Squeaky Fromme, the Manson Family member who slaughtered Sharon Tate in cold blood, also killing her unborn baby, they mentioned she had been married - TWICE! - in prison. Apparently the Catholic Church is interested only in protecting marriage from the fags and dykes, muderers and rapists may still apply.

That was not Squeaky Fromme
it was Susan Atkins.  But point well taken.

I didn't like the article's slant/bias
The whole read like a screed arguing that victims of horrific crimes ought not be awarded monetary damages, punitive or compensatory, even when it can be demonstrated that a large, powerful, and wealthy organization aided and abetted in a conspiracy to hide their shame and the criminals within their own ranks.

It's one story after another that just says, "Woo -- look, this person got a big pile of money and it seemed to make things worse."

Well, sure, if that's all that happens -- there ought to have been a whole lot of therapy and personal rehabilitation as well, but that's where we as a society fall short.

The point of damage awards isn't to perpetuate the myth that having wealth somehow makes up for being the victim of a horrific crime.  It's supposed to go towards healing the damage, and to make a little more comfortable a life that will be forever warped by what was done to it.  And to pay for treatment.

But no -- all the story says is "X got a big pile of money, and he pissed it away on drugs, unwise ventures, and rubbish.  Oh, and his life got worse."  How can one avoid but read between the lines to conclude the unspoken argument is, "Stop suing the Church for harboring pedophile priests"?
