The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Sailor killed at Camp Pendleton may have been target of hate crime

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Jul 02, 2009 at 17:00:00 PM EDT

Seaman August Provost, 29, is dead. His body was found on June 30 at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in San Diego, CA. At this time the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is calling it an apparent homicide and are looking for a "person of interest" in custody. There is evidence that this could be a hate crime.
Rep. Bob Filner (D-Chula Vista) said today he had asked the U.S. Department of Defense and the Marine Corps to investigate whether the killing of a sailor, who was gay, at Camp Pendleton was a hate crime...Gay leaders in San Diego had asked Filner to intervene. Nicole Murray-Ramirez, chairman of the San Diego Human Relations Commission, said Provost's family said the sailor had been harassed by other personnel on the base.

Filner said initial indications are that Provost was shot and his body burned. He said his committee also will investigate the case.

Provost's partner found out about the death from a newspaper reporter, Murray-Ramirez said.

Rod McCullom of Rod 2.0:
Provost enlisted in the Navy in March 2008, and was a boatswain mate seaman who worked on hovercrafts. Provost's Facebook page confirms he is 29-years-old and interested in "men and women." On his MySpace page, Provost referenced dating men and identified another Houston man as "the love of my life."

...The homicide of August Provost III came on the same day Defense Secretary Robert Gates claimed the Pentagon hoped to make "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" investigations-and attitudes toward gay and lesbian servicemembers-more "humane."

Well, now this young man is dead. So much for humane policy. HRC, which has just launched a DADT repeal tour, put out this statement:
"Our thoughts are with the Prevost family at this time as authorities work to learn what happened in the early morning hours this past Tuesday," said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese.  "The Human Rights Campaign has confirmed Congresswoman Susan Davis has been in touch with officials at the base and is tracking the investigation.  We know that every day members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community are targeted for simply being who they are.  Furthermore, our gay or lesbian soldiers struggle with the extra burden of not serving openly and honestly based on the discriminatory policy of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.' As we monitor the investigation, our community must continue to raise awareness on a law that we know hurts military readiness and national security while putting American soldiers at risk."
In the SD Union-Tribune, the real crux of the story is revealed:
Provost's partner, Kaether Cordero, said Provost was openly gay but kept his private life quiet for the most part.

"People who he was friends with, I knew that they knew," Cordero said from Houston. "He didn't care that they knew. He trusted them."

Provost had recently complained to family members about a person who was harassing him, so they advised him to tell his supervisor, said his sister, Akalia Provost of Houston.

If Provost was gay, then clearly if he went to complain to his supervisor, he would have to "Tell" about his sexual orientation. How on earth are service members placed in this position supposed to ask for help? I hope someone asks Robert Gibbs about this at the next presser -- or the President or Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid. How should a harassment dilemma of this kind should be addressed if one is to be truthful? If Provost's death turns out to be a hate crime, the blood will be on their hands for the inaction -- leaving gays and lesbians in uniform in harm's way for the sake of affirming homophobia in the ranks.

My sympathy to the Provost family
Obama, Gates, and Joint Chiefs

WE DEMAND a full investigation, and make it PUBLIC like Tailhook. You promised transparency, now walk the walk.

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

~Heather Small

My first thought on seeing this
Was that white supremacist and neo-Nazis are now actively recruited in the Armed Services.

Being black and gay and it being relatively known may have made him a target.

That was my first though. Kudos to the San Diego activists for staying on this.

My condolences to the Provost family.

My first thought too kevinchi

praying for the Provosts
and feeling righteous anger about DADT and the horrific position our queer soldiers are put in. DO SOMETHING NOW, MR PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS. NOW!!

sad, but it will be turned around...
of course the idiots in favor of DADT are going to say, "See, we told you so. It hurts the rank and file and needed unit cohesion we all talk about."

the cohesion is really the superglue that is holding the left and right sides of their brains together.

they won't understand that if Provost could have gone to his superior to report the harassment, this could have been avoided.

they won't understand that their continued ignorance exacerbated fear and doubt.

they won't understand that an able and adept service member can not aid in the security of their/our country because they failed to save his life. and when the murderer is caught, they then will have lost TWO (or more) men who could have enhanced our security.

they won't understand that by fostering such behaviour they put not only service members at risk but others.

these idiots (people too stupid to know they are ignorant) pray to their god and swear to an oath to defend the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, both of which tell us that all citizens have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

sad, so sad...

If it weren't for DADT
he could have informed someone of the threats. And informing a proper authority about these threats couls have saved his life.

Shame isn't it?
That the President is absolutely powerless to do anything to stop discharges under DADT.

Obama's quest to find a "durable" solution is probably, long-term, in our best interests but there is a REAL cost in terms of civil rights, and lives, of GLBT servicemembers.

[ Parent ]
Sadly, I've even read alleged gays saying the same thing...

...or stealth Obambots: "leave well enough alone....ending DADT will only get more gay servicemembers attacked."

Which is an ignorant, excuse-justifying sibling of Obama Inc's "we have to do this right...it will take time...blah blah blah." See below for a Pentagon program that already is in place that could simply be retrofitted to out gay integration.

1. Neither a freeze on discharges nor repeal of DADT would REQUIRE any gay servicemember to come out.

2. Studies of countries and domestic police and fire departments in which out gay service is permitted, including the "Rand" study paid for by the Pentagon in 1993, consistently show that only a relative few out themselves. The majority stay in the "work closet."

3. The Rand study and others consistently demonstrate what CANDIDATE Obama said was the primary requirement for the repeal of the ban AND its successful implementation: leadership. NO policy change, large or small, succeeds in or outside the military without leadership, without modeling by superiors, without consequences/punishment for refusing to comply. In 1993, even military people who were rabidly OPPOSED to Clinton's effort to gay integrate the ranks publicly admitted: "If he tells us to do it, we will salute and say, Yes, Sir!"

"Now hear this: yesterday you wore light blue uniforms. Tomorrow you will wear dark blue uniforms. End of discussion."

"Now hear this: yesterday we banned out gays. Tomorrow we won't. End of discussion."

4. Contrary to the shameless excuse-making by the CIC, the Pentagon, et al., implementation would neither be "brain surgery" nor a place where no [military] man [or woman] has gone before. Some identified or self-identified gays have...or a variety of reasons but mostly amounting to the need for every possible body to fight...have been allowed to serve along side nongays in every conflict going back to and including WWII...and have done so without incident.

Yes, there will continue to be some hardshell homophobes in the military, just as some hardshell racists and sexists remain decades after the military was racially and gender integrated. But over 70% of servicemembers polled said they were comfortable around gays.

Changes in the design of military housing has rendered the "close quarters phobia" argument....identically used to oppose racial integration...almost entirely obsolete. Ships? Submarines? Tough noogies. "Personal comfort" is irrelevant in the military. Ya got a problem with it, straight, hung up Soldier? See the Chaplain.

Both Choi and Fehrenbach have reported, as virtually every "public" gay servicemember before them, that their coworkers have continued to treat them with the same amount of respect as they did before they knew they were gay. Even in the far more generally homophobic times of 1975, the discharge hearing of the first person to challenge the ban, Leonard Matlovich, briefly blew up when two airmen called by the "prosecution" said they'd happily work with him again.

There already IS a military department...paid for by tax dollars...whose mission it is to prevent conflicts between different groups in the military.

The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute started as the Defense Race Relations Institute when racial conflicts on bases boiled over in the 1970s [including all-out race riots at Travis Air Force Base] because the military was not keeping up with the changing civilian times and blacks entering the forces would no longer put up with blatant discrimination and harassment while too many whites were allowed to manifest their racism that they brought with them from their civilian life.

Investigations showed that...wait for it...the biggest problem was lack of leadership...commanders who tolerated or even encouraged racial intolerance and discrimination in military job assignments and advancement.

Just as in instances today where the "Don't Harass" part of DADTDPDH is not enforced by superior officers as, if homophobia did play a role in Provost's murder, it obviously wasn't adequately being enforced at Pendleton. ["DH" was added after the murder by Louisville Slugger of perceived-gay Barry Winchell at Fort Campbell in Kentucky ten years ago this Sunday. The commanding officer there was WRONGLY exonerated of failing to suppress the systemic homophobia at Campbell where even at least one superior officer at been reported for referring to Winchell as a "faggot."

Another result was Clinton's issuing an Executive Order adding a hate crimes enhancement to the Universal Code of Military Injustice. Yes, that's right, in the upside down world of DADT, military gays technically have more protections than civilian gays.

DEOMI has since expanded its charter to include education programs and discrimination monitoring in relation to women in the military, antiSemitism, political extremism, and, since 9/11, anti Muslim attitudes.

Performance reviews of supervisory officers in the military now include ratings on adherence to nondiscrimination policies. Whatever his/her personal feelings about other races, religions, or women in the military they know they will NOT be promoted if they aren't following those policies.

It could easily add issues related to out gay integration to its programs. The irony is that Leonard's last job in the Air Force was as a "Race Relations Instructor," so good that he coached other instructors and people in Carter's Justice Department tried unsuccessfully to convince the Air Force to hire him as a civilian "gay rights" instructor. THIRTY YEARS AGO!

Again, leadership and discipline are the solution for nipping any potential conflict in the proverbial bud. If Obama would stop singing Kumbaya and tell his generals that cessation of gay discharges by whatever means must be accompanied by an iron-fist enforced non-harrasment policy and that THEIR CAREERS and those of everyone down the line depend on its successful implementation you can bet your GI Joe doll that it will happen quickly. And the first officer demoted for failing to do it will make any other foot-dragging officer change overnight.

L E A D E R S H I P!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it people have to die for civil rights?
It is just a shame that people have to die for others to understand that civil rights will always boil down to a life and death issue. While the Administration and the legislative branch exchange letters calling for each other to take action on an issue that is clearly supported by over 2/3rds of Americans, Somehow its okay that our people are pigeonholed into lives where they can't even ask for help much less live with integrity. You suck America!

Always thinking about it...

I wrote about this earlier today
on DailyKos, before as many facts were available.
excerpt:
Dems must stop making excuses and start making policy. Lives are being lost.
There is a tendency in our society to blame the victim. Rather than blame the bullies, public opinion may swing to blame Provost. After all, "he was gay in a gay-hostile environment, what did he expect?" "These incident are why gays don't belong," apologist for bigotry will say.

Our job--our call to action--is to not let that talking point be made or repeated. There can be no argument, DADT condones and reinforces an environment of hostility.

Just looked at Huff Post
I see NOTHING on this story! I mean the MSM can speculate on whether Joe Jackson has grounds to contests Michael Jackson's will, surely this story deserves some coverage.

a-effing-men!
I have been looking for this on HuffPo all day, and nothing! Of course, Huff Po lately has been looking a lot like the Drudge Report. There are so many homophobes on that site it makes me absolutely sick.

I found it!
The story does appear on HuffPo.  But you'd never know it unless you search there on gay sailor murdered in San Diego as I did and got a link to the Advocate article and a bit longer one from the San Diego Union-Tribune.  Nothing updated, however, and it is still not featured on the "front page".  Nor does this story appear on Yahoo's news page OR Google's.

In-fucking-visible.  Hmph.

CNN did a pretty good segment on this
in the 2 o'clock hour.  They made all the rights connections to DADT, and interviewed a CA congressman (I didn't get his name) who made the connection eve more forcefully.

how brave
So the defenders of freedom go around killing their comrades in arms because of their private lives.  Allowing the Timothy McVeighs into the service is the real wrong.  DADT needs to end and real freedom values need to be instilled.  Hate is the real obscenity here.
My sympathies too to the Provost family and I hope the authorities stay on this until justice is served.

hate crime or not
this makes me sad.  Why are the troops killing eachother?

My condolences for his family, I hope they find the cause, find the perpetrator and serve him what little justice we are offered by society.

DADT has gotta go, he could have asked for help if he weren't worried about losing his job.  shame.

Looking at that young face breaks my heart
I'm going to go cry into my sofa in a minute.

DADT gives power to homophobic bullies and sociopaths.

Sadly, being a person of color doubles the risk of this kind of violence.

The burning of the body is similar to many other hate crimes we've read about over the years. It is often the last task undertaken by a sick person who wishes to cleanse the world of what they view as filth.

White supremacist gangs are known to endorse burning gay and lesbian people alive. How much do you want to bet that this man was being harassed by a skinhead?

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

- Abraham Lincoln.

Write to Everyone
We need to forward this story to the President, Congress and media outlets.
But we need to make a physical impact.
If everyone prints this article and sends in a physical letter to these organizations it will make an impact.
We need to be louder. We need to scream and push everyone we know to raise their voice in the cause.
Call, write letters, stand in protest. And tell everyone what you're doing.

Stereotypes Prevail
In the absence of positive role models, stereotypes of gays and lesbians prevail. DADT creates a vacuum concerning gays and lesbians that is filled with stereotypes. Fear in the military is from the stereotypes that prevail. I'm thankful for the courage of the LT Choi's and LTC Ferenbachs of the world who are filling that vacuum with an alternative to the stereotype of "what gay looks like."

And those "stereotypes" should be allowed to serve, too
Our military peoeple shouldn't have to conform to the military stereotype either. There's no reason why an effeminate man can't serve his country.

They don't all have to look like Sargeant Carter. Gomer Pyle should be able to swish around the barracks as well.

Just a thought. ;-)

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

- Abraham Lincoln.

[ Parent ]
I can't disagree!
I can't disagree with you at all that people shouldn't have to conform to a military stereotype-- thanks for pointing that out. People should be accepted for the strength of their character and adherence to military values. I recall that Gomer taught Sgt Carter some valuable lessons...

A point I made weakly is that unfortunately, many stereotypes that fill the vaccum and stop people from considering DADT in a reasonable, thoughtful manner include the stereotypes that are advanced in hate speech- the ranks will be filled with pedophiles, sexual deviants and predators, lesbian rapists, and those who will spread AIDS for sexual gratification! We must stop them!

Those were the arguments (and stereotypes) that Elaine Donnelly was advancing against repealing DADT in her official testimony to Congress in July 2008. Serving openly doesn't equate at all to those dark stereotypes but hate speech seems to be the squeaky wheel that makes Congress hesitate: Gee, if I co-sponsor HR 1283, will the voters in my district think that I condone spreading AIDS in the ranks?

Later, when DADT is repealed, citizens will look back on the ban to open service and wonder why we were so stupid for so long.

Just my thoughts-- thanks.

Another way our relationships are not respected
"Provost's partner found out about the death from a newspaper reporter, Murray-Ramirez said."

That just broke my heart. What a horrible way to learn of the death of your partner. Not that an official notification would have been less painful, but ...

RIP, August Provost. Vengeance is ours.
This isn't the first murder caused by Bill Clinton's DADT. In 1999 PFC Barry Winchell's skull was crushed as he slept in his barracks. His "crime" was having and affair with a transsexual. One of the soldiers who conspired to murder him, Justin Fisher was released after serving only 7 years of his disgracefully lenient 12 year sentence. Winchell's commander, Major General Robert T. Clark, who shares the blame for the rabid homohating at Ft. Campbell with Bill Clinton, was not only exonerated in the murder he was... promoted to Lieutenant General.

DADT is christer military bigotry codified into law by a bipartisan Congress at the urging of Democrat Bill Clinton. Bush and the Republicans fully support bigotry and violence against GLBT folks so it was no surprise that they refused to repeal Clintons DADT.

Is that the reason Obama and the Democrats, who have the votes, refuse to do so? Obama captured much of Roves bigot vote from the Republicans and means to keep it. No matter the price. We pay the price and pay in blood. The people who urged a vote for Obama have a lot to answer for.

LGBT servicemembers will continue to suffer from official and unofficial intimidation, harassment and violence until DADT is repealed.

The looter rich much prefer working with Democrats like Obama and the Clintons - they're greedier, they fool more people and they're able to get away with a lot more than Republicans.

Two names?...one shameful agenda....
I don't know if "donal1944" is also "Bill Perdue" but this post is identical to one Perdue has posted on other sites to shamelessly exploit August Provost's murder.

Mr. Perdue always has a sticky purse full of factual distortions to try to justify his REAL mission which has NOTHING repeat NOTHING to do with gay rights but trying to convince the gullible to dump the Dems and Repugs and every other party except "Labor" but his tape loop that homophobia in the military is the fault of President Satan er Clinton is one of the most shameful, not to mention the absurdity that Clinton "urged" Congress to create DADT.

The first fact, of course, is that a formal ban on gays in the military goes back to WWII...BEFORE BILL CLINTON WAS BORN.

Then, one incident alone, among many over decades, and one with many apparent similarities to this one, proves Perdue no better than a grave robber to serve his slimy political ends.

In  the spring of 1992...note, before, Bill Clinton had even secured the Party's nomination.... Petty Officer Allen Schindler repeatedly complained to his commanding officer on the USS Belleau Wood of harassment and blatant threats such as,  "There's a faggot on this ship and he should die." He got no help. In fact, a disciplinary hearing related to his having revealed his gayness that he'd requested be held privately was left open and 2-300 people attended.

In October 1992....before Clinton was elected....Schindler was attacked by another sailor in Nagasaki. When the shore patrol arrived, "he was unconscious but still alive, gargling up blood. His face was so disfigured no one was sure of his race, much less his name. Patrolman Anthony Aptimes got a pulse, then lost it. He wiped the blood out of the sailor's mouth with a T-shirt and pressed on his chest, trying to restart his heart. With each compression, blood trickled from the sailor's mouth and bubbled out of a gash on the bridge of his nose. To Seaman Witte, the eyewitness who'd sounded the alarm, it looked as if the sailor's nose had been shaved clean off his face. Witte cradled the man's head and stared at the tattoos on his arms.

...The patient lying in the branch medical clinic that night had suffered at least four fatal injuries to the head, chest, and abdomen. He had eight broken ribs, fractures in the back of his skull and in the bones around his eyes; his nose was broken; his upper jaw was broken; the whole middle portion of his face was detached and floating loosely. There were bruises and cuts on the surface of his neck, head, and chest; there were bruises on his brain, on his lungs, his heart. The pericardial sac around his heart was filled with 250 milliliters of blood, enough to top off a juice glass. His liver had been turned to pulp "like a tomato smushed up inside its cover." The impact of blows to the chest had torn his aorta; his bladder had been ripped open; his penis had been bruised and lacerated. There were sneaker-tread marks stamped on his forehead and chest. The pattern of his T-shirt had been impressed on his skin. Seven months later Commander Edward Kilbane, the forensic pathologist at Okinawa who had performed more than one thousand autopsies, would testify that he had never seen a more severe beating. The sailor's injuries were worse than the damage to a person who'd been stomped by a horse; they were similar to what might be sustained in a high-speed car crash or a low-speed aircraft accident."

It was only by the tattoos on his arm that his mother was able to identify his body.

WHO is so shameless that he would troll from one Website to another exploiting the murders of gays for his own NONGAY-related political agenda?

See above.

Who's trolling, Leland...?
Michael Bedwell, nee Leland Francis, is a Clintonite. That is to say he gives personal, unqualified non-political support to anything any Clinton ever did. Michael Bedwell/Leland Francis hates Obamas guts. His frothing, hysterical opposition to Obama is not based on principles: Michael Bedwell/Leland Francis has none. It's based on the fact that Obama trounced the Clintons. Crushed them. Rubbed their noses in it even after their racist attacks during the primaries.

Michael Bedwell/Leland Francis is one of those transphobe who supported Barney Franks gutting of ENDA in 2007. He says that DADT and DOMA were "favors" the Clintons did for us. He's incapable of telling the truth if it involves the Clintons. His support for bigotry, as long as it's Clintonite bigotry, is repulsive.

Clintons DADT codified the existing bigotry in the military and led to harassment, violence, unequal treatment, discriminatory and every once in a while, murder. That is totally and entirely the fault of Bill Clinton and his massive bipartisan majority of Democrats and Republicans who passed DADT and to Bush and Obama and their Congressional parties that refuse to repeal it.

Clintons DOMA codified bigotry around SSM and likewise passed Congress with huge bipartisan majorities. Clinton championed DOMA so he could trawl for bigot votes. He signed it immediately signed so that he could trawl for bigot votes, hoping they'd make up for the losses he incurred supporting NAFTA and betraying unions. And so he could run these ads on redneck christer radio stations:

"Protecting religious freedom. It's the foundation of our nation.

When the Justice Department went after a church to gather the parishioners' tithing money, the government was stopped cold because President Clinton overturned the government's policy and protected us... It's not the only time he's defended our values.

President Clinton wants a complete ban on late term abortions ... The President signed the Defense of Marriage Act... President Clinton has fought for our values and America is better for it.

"Paid for by Clinton/Gore 96"

Clinton is a bigot. He championed DADT, NAFTA, DOMA. Clintons embargo of medicine, food and sanitary supplies murdered about half a million Iraqi children. Clinton championed the deregulation of banks and finances that caused today's economic failure. People who support him like Michael Bedwell/Leland Francis enable bigotry to say nothing of war against children, NAFTA, deregulation and union busting.

Besides, Donal,
everybody here knows that you are nor Bill Perdue, you are really me.  Bedwell has been warned about his vitriolic attacks on other Blenders in the past.  He's obviously decided that spinning these weird conspiracy memes is an acceptable alternative.

By way of explanation, when I first began posting at the Blend I was blind as a bat.
That's why I put donal in the wrong field instead of my name. Bill Perdue. Since then I've had both lenses replaced, typos have dropped somewhat and I no longer post in 72 point bold caps.

My sometimes stilted prose is all mine. I spoke at lots of rallies and marches for LGBT rights, against the wars and nukes and for unions and I tend to write as if I'm speaking: it doesn't always translate.

Leland Francis/Michael Bedwell is unwelcome in a lot of places because he froths at people. He literally seems to be spitting acid and dripping venom. I used to answer him the same way but it detracts from the politics and it all gets a little creepy. Even exceptionally sharp political disagreements can be expressed politically and with a minimum of personal invective.

However I have to say that the question of whether or not Bill and Hillary Clinton, Obama and Biden are bigots falls more into the 'duh?!' category than something argueable.

The looter rich much prefer working with Democrats like Obama and the Clintons - they're greedier, they fool more people and they're able to get away with a lot more than Republicans.

I remember that humongous font size.
I just assumed you were a crazy Marxist-Leninist who liked to shout. I was fairly new and was very impressed with how restrained everybody seemed to be.  Then when someone (Lurleen, maybe?) gently broached the subject with you, I realized that you were just a Marxist-Leninist with cataracts.

[ Parent ]
Marxist-Leninists are sedate people.
Unlike those who vote for right centrist anti-GLBT candidates like Obama, Romney, Huckabee, Biden, McCain, Hillary Clinton or Palin who oppose SSM, consistently pander to christer bigots and want to put off our agenda until sometime late in the next millenium.

Unlike those who vote for a warmonger like Obama, Romney, Huckabee, Biden, McCain, Hillary Clinton or Palin. Murdering a million or so Iraqi's and almost 5,000 GIs for oil is lunacy.

And unlike those who vote for Obama, Romney, Huckabee, Biden, McCain, Hillary Clinton or Palin so they can pass out trillions in welfare to the looter rich and simultaneously cut wages and benefits for working people.

You did notice that during the campaign the restraint melted away. All of a sudden McCain was Hitler's grandson and Palin was the Beast who eats babies. Just regular Democrat BS and not a bit different from Republican BS.

As usual the sleaziest candidate, the one who lied best, won.

The looter rich much prefer working with Democrats like Obama and the Clintons - they're greedier, they fool more people and they're able to get away with a lot more than Republicans.

Yes, donal, a little humor sure goes a long way to pulling me in.
Marxist-Leninists are sedate people.
That title had me chuckling so much that I just kept reading all the way to the end of your post, even though I knew the message by heart already:

Republicans and Democrats - not a lick of difference.

If your socialist paradise looked more like, say, Sweden, I might take it seriously.

Anyway, I am glad that your eyes are doing better.

I'll get back to you later, this is about another DADT killing and already way too far afield.

Something esle we have in common, then.
About two and a half years ago, I went blind too, as a result of cataracts (which advanced very rapidly, as they do in rare cases).  My insurance company, HealthAmerica, refused to pay for surgery, claiming that it's not "essential" for a writer to be able to see.  Within months I was quite blind.  Furtunately the state of PA, recognizing that it is not a good thing to let productive citizens go blind, stepped in and paid for the surgery.

Hmmm...maybe we are psychic twins?

(File this one under "It Never Rains But It Pours": Just after I regained my vision, it became necessary for me to have spinal cord surgery, to correct the damage from an old accident.  The surgery has left me partially paralyzed.  Ain't life grand?)

The American people, taking one with another, are the most timorous, sniveling, poltroonish, ignominious mob of serfs and goose-steppers ever gathered under one flag in Christendom since the end of the Middle Ages.

Your insurance company...
is about as slimy as they come. And it'll profit enormously from Obama's 'healthcare' giveaway.

I'm sorry to hear about your paralysis but glad to see that you're always in fighting trim and ready to KO apologists for bigots, bosses, wars and all the rest of it.

To paraphrase, life is a Democratic (sic) politician, then you... Well, you know the rest.

The looter rich much prefer working with Democrats like Obama and the Clintons - they're greedier, they fool more people and they're able to get away with a lot more than Republicans.

Psssst....guys
* The exceptions:
-- diaries created for spamming (we have some dolts who sign up to promote a product, not write a discussion post)
-- direct physical threats between commenters, or publishing of private information.

In relation to what, Pollyanna?

As in
one of only three rules Pam specifically mentioned for the upcoming week was to not publish someone else's personal information. You know, like real names.

This chills me to the core
That could have been me a few years ago. It almost was. I feel lucky that my "punishment" was only blackmail rape as opposed to bludgeoning death.

Oh, dear Goddess, this guy was a boatswain's mate. For those unaware, the BM rate is to the Navy what infantry is to the Army in terms of openmindedness. A lot of tough guy knuckle-dragging deck apes. When deployed I was constantly sexually harassed by those guys. Oh, August.

Rest now, shipmate. We will not forget you. We will see justice done.

God save ornery old queens! - kevinchi

So far military denying "hate crime"
I just saw on the local news here in San Diego, they are saying that thus far, it does not look like a "hate crime." They are trying to say that this could have been anyone who was present. I have the feeling this is just the military's CYA policy.

My thoughts and sympathies are with his family and his partner, Kaether Cordero.
