Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Another No-Show For the DNC LGBT Fundraiser

by: Louise

Fri Jun 19, 2009 at 14:16:17 PM EDT

This time it's National Gay & Lesbian Task Force Executive Director Rea Carey.

Confirmed by Americablog...

h/t to Blender C, who forwarded the email to "tips".

From: Rea Carey rcarey@thetaskforce.org
Subject: RE: please pull out of the DNC fundraiser
Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 8:27 PM

Dear C,

Thanks so much for writing to me.  Although I was invited as a (non-paying) guest some time ago and had originally accepted the invitation, I will now not be attending the DNC dinner.

Keep staying engaged in the work for full, real equality!  We'll need every one of us to make it happen.

My best,
Rea

C's original email, which I think is terrific stuff indeed:

Subject: please pull out of the DNC fundraiser

It is time to take a stand!  Follow the lead of Marty Rouse, David Mixner, Alan Van Capelle, and Andy Towle.  Stop the flow of money until the Obama administration comes through for us and fulfills it's promises to our community. Use your influence to encourage others not to attend.  Shut down the DNC fundraiser!

Why should I give to the task force if you give to unresponsive administration?

C

Gee, the sea of empty chairs is growing larger... pretty soon they could hold the event in a broom closet!

No more gAyTM for them
until they come up with something to show for it.

Are there any figures on how much financial pain the shutting off of this spigot will cause them, in proportion to their total budget? How likely is it they'd be able to take this hit and carry on as before? I guess that depends on something intangible, the pigheadedness of their attitudes, their mental resistance to progress. I'm thinking like a rational actor here, but bigotry is not rational. I wonder how much of their behavior is governed by rational self-interest versus bigotry.

Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

Its a good chunk of change...
but it probably does not hurt them too bad. As I've said before, there are lots of other constituencies that would LOVE to have the President or VP come.

Besides...
I'm sure the WH knows that their boycott hurts LGBT organizations more in the long run. Instead of being actively engaged with the administration, they will have declared it an enemy. The job of moving pro LGBT legislation will simply get harder once they stop working with the President. In DC, access is everything. The best way to got anything done in DC is to have access to the President. HRC and others have just publically spit on the president. He now has justification to completely ignore them where as before he wanted them as part of the national dialogue.

[ Parent ]
hopefully others are paying attention
to what he's doing to the gays.

the health care constituency is next. http://www.americablog.com/200... (and Obama's already on record saying he'll pass a bill without the option).

Oh... and people who care about due process and justice issues? Obama's screwed over them too -- at the DoJ, no less. http://www.americablog.com/200...

Why should people on death row have access to dna evidence that could prove their innocence, anyway? Hey, at least it's consistent: his admin has continually pushed for preventing inmates in guatanimo from getting their due process -- they'll be sent all around the world when the prison's closed so they don't have access to the American judiciary system.

Soon, there won't be many democratic constituencies left. Let's hope the apologists get the memo.

It Wouldn't Surprise Me
if Obama's plan is to keep this crap going because it would mean people like Maggie Gallagher would have to get a real job.

Equality Caucus
I sent a message to the Equality Caucus derploring democratic inaction on gay rights and got a return email saying it would be passed on to Reps. Baldwin and Frank (who might remember my name because Kate Clinton gave him one of my gay mysteries).

Today I got a fund-raising appeal from Jennifer Granholm's office and I sent a version of what I've been sending to every Democratic fund-raising group:

I'm a lifelong Democrat who gave more time and money to the last two elections than ever before, but I'm done supporting anyone in my party.

I am disgusted with congressional and presidential inaction on granting the GLBT community full equal rights.  Thus far, it's all talk and no real action.  When the party pushes the reversal of DADT and DOMA and passes ENDA, I will return.

Right now, the Democrats are proving to be GOP Lite and endorsing by their inaction a state of gay apartheid.
